Cerebro Aislado en estado de Alarma
Maslow, Abraham (1943) elaboró, la
famosa “pirámide de Maslow” en la cual definía
cuales eran las necesidades básicas que toda
persona (y su cerebro) debería tener en el
transcurso de su vida y en la medida que podía
cubrir sus necesidades básicas, se ascendía por
la pirámide hasta llegar al punto máximo de la
misma que era, y es, la autosatisfacción, lograr
el reconocimiento propio y el de la sociedad.
Para ello, Maslow sostenía que para lograr
cubrir las necesidades básicas y ascender a un
escalón superior de la pirámide, el individuo
desarrolla ciertos comportamientos y hábitos
con los cuales pueden acceder a esos escalones
superiores, como ser el reconocimiento y la
autosatisfacción, y esto dependía de sus deseos
más elevados.
Carter (1998), aparece en la escena
neurocientífica años después, y elabora una
serie de necesidades básicas “para todo ser
humano”. La autora manifiesta es que el primer
propósito del cerebro es la “supervivencia”, es
segundo es satisfacer las “necesidades
emocionales” y el tercero es el “aprendizaje
cognitivo”. Es por esta razón, que los sistemas
educativos, cada vez más incorporan el
concepto de coeficiente emocional y los
antepone al concepto de coeficiente intelectual,
dado que como se está viendo en este mundo
globalizado, el manejo y/o gestión emocional,
se transforma en una herramienta fundamental
para el desarrollo social y económico de las
personas (Gigliotti, J. J., Gigliotti, J. M., &
Treco, D. 2020, p. 34-36).
Cuando el Cerebro, a través de sus cinco
sentidos que vienen del exterior y de los
sistemas internos simpáticos y parasimpáticos,
detecta que no se está cumpliendo con la
premisa de “mantener la supervivencia” (ya que
recibe señales de tipo aversivas o peligrosas),
entra en lo que se denomina “estado de alerta u
amenaza”.
Esta amenaza puede ser, real o
imaginaria, y el cerebro no puede distinguir una
de otra. Además, no nos referimos solo a “tener
hambre o sed”, sino que, además, “la soledad, el
aislamiento el no contacto social”, también lo
percibe como un estado de alarma y entonces
hablamos de un “cerebro estresado”, el cual
genera conductas y hábitos perjudiciales para
la salud de las personas, inclusive hasta los
suicidios. Cabe destacar que las conductas y
hábitos perjudiciales pueden suceder a
cualquier edad.
Además, hemos visto y asistido a la
aparición de nuevas enfermedades ligadas a la
tecnología y dependencia de las redes sociales,
como el “Síndrome del doble clic”, “la
depresión por Facebook”, el “Síndrome de la
casa vacía”, entre otros. Este tipo de
enfermedades son causadas, entre otros
factores, por el “efecto aislamiento con poco
contacto social” (Saito, 2013). Como vemos,
todas estas patologías aparecidas en la última
década del siglo anterior pero incrementada en
estos últimos años, género angustia en los
docentes y profesores dado que sus alumnos no
respondían de la manera adecuada en sus
clases, lo cual llevo a que ellos mismos
sufrieran del “Síndrome de Burnout” (Riera,
2015).
Conclusión
Como hemos visto, gracias a estos tres
cerebros, tenemos una multiplicidad de
respuestas hacia el mundo exterior y hacia el
interior nuestro. Somos, desde que nacemos,
seres sociales con respuestas emocionales, más
que racionales. Una condición básica, por
nuestra naturaleza humana es el contacto
social, por lo tanto, el aislamiento (por decisión
propia, o por obligación) va en contra de esa
condición humana. El cerebro aislado, percibe
ese aislamiento como una señal aversiva (como
la sed, el hambre, entre otros.) colocándose en
un estado de “alarma”, comenzando a dar
señales y una serie de reacciones hacia el
mundo exterior, que van desde “la disminución
del interés por casi todas las actividades que
generaban cierto placer, hasta el insomnio,
angustia, pánico, fobias, depresión e incluso
suicidios”. Esto puede ocurrir a cualquier
edad, y no importa el estatus social del
individuo.
